Luxury Location Guide: Luxury Ski Resort, Courcheval 1850
Courcheval is a resort within the French Alps that is infamous for it’s brilliant skiing courses and conditions and also often known as the St Tropez of winter sports. Courcheval is split into towns 1300 (Le Praz), 1550, 1650 and the most successful being 1850 where we currently have several luxury ski chalets, perfect for spur of the moment trips to the slopes.
The numbers of the towns, in case you were wondering, were given to reflect the towns altitude in meters. However, the resort centre of 1850 was named slightly optimistically as it is actually only 1747 meters, although was rounded up to compete with arch rival resort Val d’Isère. The towns have recently been re-branded but are still largely known by the altitudes as mentioned earlier.
For you history buffs out there, you may not know that town planner; Laurent Chappis constructed the resort during the Second World War. Courcheval 1850 was significant though, as it was the first resort in France to be developed from scratch, rather than based around an existing village. The other towns had minimal inhabitants so were easier to build upon and transform into one of the most successful skiing resorts in the world.
If you want to sample all of the slopes Courcheval has to offer then a weekly lift ticket means you can also venture over to neighboring Paradiski and Espace Killy to really test your skills. The efficiency of the lift system that operates here is as infamous as the skiing itself as there are rarely queues, even at busy periods, which leaves lots more time for gliding around in the sun.
Everyone knows the Apres-ski is as important as the skiing itself which is why this luxury resort is so popular with novices, professionals and celebrities alike.
There are a handful of restaurants that hold Michelin Stars as well as designer shops to find appropriate outfits for such dining, for example Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Valentino, Prada, Cartier, Fendi and Dior, just to name a few.
It’s exclusivity makes it unsurprisingly one of the most expensive places to live in the world, however, it is also a sure thing for rental properties so if you are considering investing in luxury ski chalets and accommodation, then Courcheval is your place.
We have every size and shape of property you could desire, from our three bedroom apartment packed with ski essentials such as ski in/ ski out access, 2 ski lockers and also two beautiful balconies to enjoy unrivaled mountainous views.
Alternatively, is something on a more grand scale is what you’re after then we have a 5 bedroom chalet in central Courcheval 1850 that would be ideal.
The two living rooms, dining room, bar and library make this property perfect for entertaining family and friends as well as not sacrificing your home comforts.
There is a swimming pool (with cascade), ski room, elevator and private parking within this property as well as the option for balneotherapy so no injuries or aches need to go untreated in this luxury French ski chalet.
