TIME FOR SOME WINTER SUN?

There’s a distinct chill in the air at night and I’m not (just) referring to the ongoing political drama.  The nights are drawing in as the summer draws to an end, is it time to think about winter destinations.?

For a tropical climate and warm temperatures all year round, an 8.5 hour flight will take you from the UK to Grantley Adams International Airport and the sunny shores of Barbados.

With over 500,000 tourists annually the island, located in the North Atlantic, actually only covers 166 square miles and is divided into 11 parishes with the nation’s capital, Bridgetown, being situated in Saint Michael.

For most people, Barbados is synonymous with sandy beaches and clear, turquoise sea waters but there is so much more to the Caribbean island than just that.  With sights to visit including historical monuments and grand plantation houses, there is also a plethora of water sports to enjoy and, depending on the time of your visit, the chance to visit one their numerous festivals which encompass jazz, sailing and of course, rum.

There is a real sense of grandeur and opulence evident in many of the properties in Barbados and this 5 bedrooms villa for sale in Sandy Lane, St James called Mon Caprice is no exception.  Within walking distance of the beautiful, and world famous, Sandy Lane beach, the coral stone villa boasts bespoke copper chandeliers and tall Palladian windows.

If you are after less maintenance, what about this luxurious two-storey 3 bedroom beachfront penthouse apartment for sale in St James near historic Speightstown on the northern point of the island.  The spacious terrace fits the width of the apartment and presents a great space for al fresco dining enhanced by outstanding sea views.

Albeit a fantastic, and very popular summer destination, Cyprus also provides some very acceptable winter weather, especially if you have no desire to leave Europe.

Boasting over 340 days of sunshine a year, when you tire of the beaches, there are plenty of places to visit many of which are steeped in history and as winter is not peak season, you can take advantage of quieter than usual restaurants .  With both sea and mountain views, this 3 bedroom waterfront villa for sale in Paphos is one of just 5 in a new development in Kissonerga and as each of the three bedrooms can all access a large balcony, you can enjoy your stunning location from any view point.

Of course, the obvious destination at winter to buy a chalet or apartment is the French Alps for sublime skiing conditions if you are looking for a more active type of trip. We cover luxury destinations with chalets and apartments for sale including Chamonix, Courchevel and Meribel to name a few.  The fresh mountain air and stunning landscapes provide a welcome diversion even if you are not enthused by skiing and with picturesque towns to visit such as Chambéry and Annecy with a range of luxury homes for sale,  if you want to do nothing more than relax and enjoy the culinary delights on offer, this is a great destination.

Entirely renovated in 2012, this beautiful ski in/ski out chalet for sale in Meribel offers 5 bedrooms and a cinema room which could be used as guest accommodation if required.  For a different type of feel altogether, there is this lovely 4 bedroom home for sale in Sevrier, Annecy which is just steps from the lake and the shops.  If swimming in the heated pool, while enjoying spectacular mountain views sounds appealing, this could be the perfect property for you.

Whatever the season, whatever is on your wish list, we can help you find your perfect property by acting as your personal shopper and collating options matching your brief and budget.

Please get in touch and let me know what you are looking for and how we can help you.
